From Page to Stage: How Gizo-Gizo! Brings Stories to Life

As parents, we know the magic that books hold for our children. They open doors to new worlds, spark imagination, and teach valuable lessons. But imagine seeing that magic come to life on stage! That’s what makes theatre so special—it brings characters and stories off the page and into the real world.

This October, we’re excited to present Gizo-Gizo! A Tale from the Zongo Lagoon, a stage adaptation of Emily Williamson’s beloved children’s book. Gizo-Gizo! tells the story of a selfish spider who pollutes the Zongo Lagoon, and how Tortoise and Crab team up to teach him a lesson. It’s full of fun, music, and important lessons for children.

Why Theatre is Great for Children

Live theatre helps children connect more deeply with the stories they love. It builds empathy, creativity, and understanding in ways that books alone can’t. Watching the characters they’ve read about come to life is a magical experience—and Gizo-Gizo! will do just that.
